West of England Cycle Hangar Project

South Gloucestershire Council has received funding to bring cycle hangars to its residential streets and are asking for resident's views on where these are to be placed. They say:

'We want to ensure these cycle storage pods are placed in the most suitable locations, so we are keen to ask people to share their views.

We are encouraging as many people as possible to visit www.cyclehangarswest.co.uk to give us some feedback about the project, and most importantly help us to select locations for the cycle hangars.

A bike hangar is a covered, lockable and secure pod which can hold six bikes. It sits on the road and takes up about the same amount of space as a parked car.

This is an opportunity for residents to influence the decision-making process and to use mapping software to pin-point any preferred locations.

Further information about the project can also be found on www.cyclehangarswest.co.uk and the closing date for survey responses is October 29.

This is a region-wide project being overseen by the West of England Combined Authority with funding secured from central government’s Active Travel Fund to encourage walking, cycling and scooting.

We would appreciate your support, so please do spread the word to your family, friends and colleagues and feel free to share this information on your social media channels.

If you have any questions about this project, please email cyclehangarswest@westofengland-ca.gov.uk'
