Town Council congratulate The Queen



Patchway Town Council have formally congratulated the Queen after she marked 70 years on the throne.


2022 marks Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, with the monarch celebrating a record reign.


For many, the Queen has been the only head of state they have ever known after she acceded to the throne following the death of King George VI in 1952.


A letter on behalf of Patchway residents was sent to the Queen by Patchway Town Council. In the letter, The Town Council makes reference to their events they will be holding June 2022.


“The members of Patchway Town Council would like to express their sincere congratulations to you on becoming the longest reigning Monarch in British History, with seventy years on the throne. It is with great joy and pleasure that we congratulate you on the celebration of your platinum jubilee.


Your reputation as our head of state is instantly respected and envied across the world and forms an important part in conveying our national identity and values.


Patchway Town Council will be running a series of events to celebrate your Platinum Jubilee in June 2022. The Council will be holding a candle-lit walk and a Beacon lighting ceremony in conjunction with local schools and youth groups in Patchway. The Council will also be a holding a two day community event where we are encouraging our residents to come together and celebrate this wonderful occasion, with the inclusion of live music, art showcases and a diverse range of activities.


You have served our country magnificently for seventy years with great dignity and respect.”


Patchway Town Council will share further updates regarding their celebrations for this Jubilee weekend.
