The Colours of Patchway Community Mural unveiled at Casson Centre

Patchway Town Council is delighted to unveil a new Community Mural at the Casson Centre in Rodway Road which has been created by local artists, young people and residents to install a distinctive feature for the well-used space in the centre of the town.

Earlier this year, local artists Katie Hanning and Carina Andrews held workshops with residents and with young people at St Chad’s Youth Group to develop ideas, themes and a colour palette for a mural that speaks of Patchway, its history and its future.

Through the workshops, a collage of shapes and colours were created which are inspired by the spaces and nature of our town. The 70 squares celebrate 70 years of Patchway Town Council in 2023. Each individual square was designed by different Patchway residents and brought together to create one collaborative artwork. Katie and Carina were then able to bring the shapes together into The Colours of Patchway as a piece of art which talks to and about the town.

Users of the Casson Centre including The Link Club and local residents hiring for parties have already been able to see the colourful display in the space.

The Community Mural has been kindly supported through South Gloucestershire Council Member Awarded Funding (MAF) from Cllr Sam Scott.

Mayor of Patchway Cllr Dayley Lawrence said, ‘This mural created by the community for the community has added a real centrepoint to our Council community hall. Thank you to all the residents and young people who contributed to this brilliant piece of art!’.
