On a dry 2 November 2024 evening, the Patchway ‘Fireworks to Music of Queen’ brought a carnival spirit for our whole community.
As the gates were opened at 5pm by Mayor of Patchway, Cllr Dayley Lawrence, 2800 residents headed into the park for a feast of entertainment, thrills and fantastic food and drink.
Crole’s Funfair provided howls of delight as the Dragon Rollercoaster and the Twister took riders breath away, and our smaller visitors were treated to the Tea Cups, Hook a Duck and many ‘fun of the fair’ stalls.
Our 10-foot Angel on Stilts provided a great photo opportunity as she walked the Park with a trail of young (and some older) fans in her wake. Our Fire Entertainer wowed the building crowds with a mesmerising show including fire-eating and exciting flame-fuelled feats.
Mini Concerts ‘Queen & Friends’ entertained the crowd from near the Pavilion with all the hits of Queen and many more crowd-pleasers as the atmosphere built up across the event.
Local MP Claire Hazelgrove was spotted as people gathered in the large viewing area ahead of the highly anticipated display from the Dynamite Fireworks team.
Following an introduction and countdown from the Mayor of Patchway, the Fireworks to Music of Queen show blasted into action for 15 minutes of power, light and music as a stunning pyrotechnics display painted a vivid picture across the Patchway skyline. All delivered to a fantastic soundtrack of songs from royalty rockers – Queen.
The evening was delivered through the generous volunteer support of Town Councillors, local residents and Patchway Army Cadets, working alongside the Council staff team; with kind sponsorship from Mulligans Bristol, Happy Days Nursery Charlton Heights and Westcoast Properties.
The generosity of Patchway was once again evident with £236.47 raised for the Mayors Charity.
Mayor of Patchway, Cllr Dayley Lawrence said, ‘Thank you Patchway. You are brilliant. You came in your thousands, you supported one of the Council’s biggest annual events, and you all had fun. You are all invited again next year!’.
Pat yourself on the back, Patchway. And see you in 2025
