Patchway Community School students present Gauting work exchange to Council

Two Year 11 students from Patchway Community School presented their visit to Gauting in June 2024 to the full Patchway Town Council on the evening of Tuesday 15th October.

Oscar Turner and Feebee Hartanto participated in a work exchange programme with five other students from Patchway Community School (PCS) at the end of Year 10 when they visited Patchway’s twin town of Gauting, Germany.

The highly professional and well-delivered presentation explored the group's different work experiences at Realschule Gauting, a local primary school, the local tourist office and a hotel in Gauting.

Feebee and Oscar took questions from the Mayor of Patchway, Deputy Mayor and Councillors on many aspects of the work exchange, and both talked about the educational and cultural value of the opportunity for the group from our local high school.

The students were supported by Mr Haskins, Miss Pilsworth and Miss Mills from Patchway Community School who also welcomed a group of eight students from Realschule Gauting to the school in May 2024 as part of this year’s twinning exchange.

Mayor Patchway Cllr Dayley Lawrence said, ‘The professional approach of Feebee and Oscar to represent their group with a brilliant presentation is testament to the positive approach taken by all the students group and the teaching staff at Patchway Community School’.

The visit in June was funded through Almondsbury Charity and facilitated by Patchway Town Council in partnership with Patchway Community School.
