Patchway braved a few unexpected early showers to attend the first Patchway Christmas Market held at Norman Scott Park on Friday 29th November.
Stalls in covered marquees ranged from selling locally made gifts and craftworks to information stands from South Gloucestershire Council and Patchway Town Council. Local bakers and gifts for pets also featured for residents visiting the bustling market.
Local park café Snack Attacks provided festive Yorkshire puddings alongside other hearty fayre, with puddings Sav’s Super Whippy, and the taste of Christmas was completed with mulled wine and cider from The Booze Box.
Festive music was provided throughout the evening by Mini Concerts, and the big man himself – Santa Claus – made an appearance alongside his trusty Very Tall Elf sidekick. Santa and the Elf could be found by finding the trails of local children following then around.
At 6.30pm, Mayor of Patchway Cllr Dayley Lawrence switched on the Scott Park lights and large Christmas tree which had all been installed by the Council’s own groundstaff team in the preceding few days.
The Mayor of Patchway said, ‘I am delighted that Christmas has come to Scott Park and Patchway this week, with our own lights and festive tree in the Park. Plus the lights installed around the streets of Patchway. It was fantastic to meet so many happy people tonight, and I hope you all pop back to enjoy the lights as we build towards Christmas’.
This was the first ever Christmas Market held in Scott Park so we appreciate your feedback as we think about BIGGER plans for 2025 including the option of indoor space for elements of the evening. And BIGGER outdoor activities. Let us know what you think at office@patchwaytowncouncil.gov.uk
