National Highways: M5 J14-17 closures and M5 J19 slip road closure

National Highways operates, maintains and improves England’s motorways and major A-roads. They will shortly be carrying out essential works on the M5 between junctions 14 to 17 and at junction 19. They have advised of the following regarding this:

The works are currently programmed as follows:

  • Monday 2 October – M5 junction 19 northbound entry slip road closed from 10pm until 6am the following morning for survey works. Diversion route is via M5 junction 20 and back.

  • Monday 2 October to Wednesday 4 October – M5 junction 14 to 17 fully closed in both directions overnight between the hours of 9pm and 6am the following morning. This is to allow us to switch the traffic management in preparation for the first contraflow phase.

  • Wednesday 4 October to Saturday 7 October - M5 junction 14 to 17 fully closed in both directions overnight between the hours of 10pm and 6am the following morning. This is to allow us to switch the traffic management in preparation for the first contraflow phase

  • Sunday 8 October – M5 junction 14 to 17 closed southbound only overnight between the hours of 10pm and 6am the following morning. This is so we can complete the installation of the new contraflow phase.

To minimise disruption, we’ll be working overnight when there are fewer vehicles on the road. During the day we will keep the road open as usual. We’ll make every effort to ensure the impact on the local community is kept to a minimum, but apologise in advance for any disturbance these works may cause.

There will be fully signed diversion routes in place during the full overnight closures of the M5 between J14-17 and the M5 J19 slip road, but please allow extra time for your journey.

We always aim to work to the programme, however unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions may mean changes. Please monitor www.trafficengland.com to keep updated.
