In recognition of the long and outstanding service given to the community, Patchway Town Council has used its powers under the Local Government Act 1972 to confer the title of Honorary Freeman on Sergeant Stephen Ives of Avon and Somerset Police Force.

Stephen is the fifth person to receive this honour and the occasion was marked by a small celebration at Callicroft House attended by Patchway Town Councillors, The Vice-Chair of South Gloucestershire Council and representatives from Avon and Somerset Police, on Wednesday 27th October 2021.

Mr Ives was presented with a certificate and commemorative gift by Mayor of Patchway, Councillor Jon Butler.

In his speech, Cllr Butler observed that Stephen had served the community since 2002 and that Patchway would really miss the way in which Stephen had conducted himself around the community. Cllr Butler added that Stephen leaves behind a great a team upon his retirement and thanked Stephen for all of his hard work over the last 19 years.
