On a glorious Sunday morning on 6th April 2025, over 500 runners from across the area and further afield took part in the second Brabazon Half Marathon and 10k event at Norman Scott Park, Patchway.
The event organised by local resident Scott Panschuk of YPB Events in partnership with Patchway Town Council attracted runners from as far afield as Clevedon, Wales, London and Gloucester. Runners competed in 10k and Half Marathon distances starting and finishing in a beautifully green and spring-like Norman Scott Park.
The attractive route launched runners from the start line in Scott Park in front of a large crowd of supporters and local residents. They headed up Coniston Road towards the Aztec West Lakes, round quieter lanes and residential areas of Bradley Stoke including Willow Brook Nature Reserve, and across The Common before heading back into Patchway for a full circuit of Norman Scott Park before the finish line in front of the new Pavilion. The Half Marathon runners completed the circuit twice.
On one of the warmest days of the year so far, runners, supporters and onlookers gathered together before, during and after the race to enjoy this now regular event for Patchway.
Breakfast rolls and drinks were provided by Snack Attacks in the Park with home-made cakes from Little Loves Bakes. Patchway Town Councillors Toni Scott and Jenny James were on hand to support and welcome runners as they set off and returned for a medal. The event raised funds for the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity.
Mayor of Patchway, Cllr Dayley Lawrence said, ‘The Council is delighted this event has returned to Patchway for a second year with even more runners than last year. Well done to everyone who took part and completed the runs. We hope to see you all back in 2026’.
Patchway Town Council and the organisers will liaise on next year’s event which will probably be Sunday 5th April 2026. Watch this space.
