A Patchway Christmas

The festive spirit is strong across Patchway this month bringing together the community to support, to give, to share, to make, and to celebrate.

A Patchway Past…

100s of people attended Patchway’s first Christmas Lights Switch On & Festive Fayre at Holy Family Church; and over 60 people enjoyed a splendid feast at the Christmas Wednesday Lunch Club at Patchway Community Centre. The Elf Workshop took Christmas crafting to a new level, and Patchway Library has hosted ‘Stories Around the Tree’.

Mini Concerts ‘Counted Down to Christmas’ at Patchway Community Centre, and Coniston Community Café offered its affordable Christmas Lunches for local residents.

And gifts donated from stores, businesses, organisations and residents have been distributed to children in schools across the town.

A Patchway Present…

‘Christmas at the Community Hub’ has welcomed 200 children and young people from across the town for crafting workshops and the opportunity to meet Santa Claus in his Grotto at the Casson Centre with gifts for every child. And ‘eyes down’ for Friday Bingo has been a huge success. The Community Larder has provided food support for people, and kind donations have been distributed.

Nowhere does Christmas Light Displays like Patchway and the town has a wealth of stunning displays through our streets creating a winter wonderland for passers-by.

School holiday workshops are taking place across the town for our young people at The Patch, St Chad’s Primary School, Coniston Primary School, Coniston Community Centre, and Patchway Community School.

The 2nd Patchway Scouts Christmas float has delighted residents through the freezing evenings. And Patchway Library offered its Window into Winter Wonderland children’s crafting sessions.

A Patchway Future…

The Community Hub and Community Larder at the Casson Centre pauses from 22 December, though reopens on 4 January 2023. St Chad’s Church offers food parcels to 22 December (voucher referral from The Hub, Citizens Advice, housing support, children's centres, social services and some local charities.

Coniston Community Centre ‘Community Fridge & Larder’ and Community Centre Café is available during opening hours.

Patchway Library offers a staffed and Open Access warm space for members every day of the Christmas holidays except Christmas Day.

We could not cover everything that a Patchway Christmas encompasses, though suffice to say this community gives and shares a huge amount for residents.

Festive greetings and a happy new year to all our Patchway community.
