Freeman of Patchway
The honour of Freeman was first conferred by Patchway Town Council on 21st February 2013 and the occasion was marked by a presentation ceremony held at the Town Council offices in Rodway Road.

2013 - Mr Charles Horton​
Mr Horton's achievements include:
Member of Patchway Parish and later Town Council for 25 years from 1978-2003;
Vice-Chairman of Parish Council 1990-94;
Chairman of Northavon District Council from 1991-93.
Governor of Patchway High School and Chairman of Governors of Stoke Lodge Infants and Callicroft Juniors.
Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Secretary of Patchway Community Association and pushed forward plans for the new hall.
Also promoted the building of Coniston Community Centre and subsequently Trustee of Coniston Community Association for 20 years.
Treasurer of Patchway Senior Citizens Club
Chairman of Stoke Lodge Neighbourhood Watch.

2013 - Mr Lewis Gray​
Mr Gray's achievements include:
54 years a member of Patchway Parish Council, later Patchway Town Council.
Chairman for 9 years, 4 years of which as Mayor, and Vice-Chairman for 12 years.
Local Magistrate for 20 years.
Governor of Patchway High School for 40 years and of Coniston Primary School for 45 years.
Trustee of Almondsbury Charity for 20 years
Treasurer of Patchway Community Association for 18 years

2013 - Dr Kenneth Graupner
Dr Graupner's achievements include:
school governor at various schools in Patchway for 50 years, including Patchway High School, Coniston Infants and St. Chad’s Schools;
A Member of Community Health Council;
Patchway Town Councillor from 1995-2007 and Chairman in 2005 and South Gloucestershire Councillor for Patchway 2004-12.
Secretary of North Patchway Hall.

2017 - Mrs Winifred Williams
Mrs Williams' achievements include:
Chairman of Patchway Festival for over 20 years, which has brought together all sections of the community
Chairman, volunteer driver and major fundraiser of Patchway Minibus Committee
Member of the Editorial Committee of Patchway People
Governor of St Chad’s CofE Primary School
Active member of St. Chad’s Church, serving on various committees
Committee member of Patchway Twinning Association and frequent host of visitors from France and Germany
Win has also held various positions at both Patchway Community Centre and Coniston Community Centre and has supported many other local groups through fundraising and practical assistance.
2021 - Sergeant Stephen Ives
Sergeant Ives was recognised for his service to our local community within the Avon and Somerset Police Force since 2002, with the majority of his service being as a Police Sergeant for Patchway and the surrounding areas.
​
Sergeant Ives, along with other local Police Officers, always worked for the benefit of the community and provided regular reports to Patchway Town Council ensuring Patchway was a safe place to live for all.
2021 - Mr Doug Coles
Mr Coles was a long-serving officer of Patchway Sports and Social Club, working an untold amount of voluntary hours.
Within the organisation, he dedicated a substantial amount of time over a number of years to ensure the club continued to serve the residents of Patchway.
2024 - Mr John Thomas
On 1 February 2024, John Thomas was made an Honorary Freeman of Patchway by the Town Council to recognise the long and outstanding service of John to the town and community.

Mayor of Patchway, Cllr Dayley Lawrence, presented Mr Thomas with a Certificate and Bristol Blue Glass Award to mark this momentous occasion.
​
Former Patchway Councillor Mr Thomas has been involved with many organisations, projects, groups, and initiatives over many years, including Friends of Patchway Twinning, Scouts, Patchway Community Association and the Patchway & Charlton Hayes Sports Association.
